Easter and Spring Inspired Sewing Projects

Sewing is so rewarding! I hope these sewing projects I am sharing here and that I have made in the past and some this year around Easter and Spring time will inspire you to grab your sewing supplies and start sewing!

Fabric tulips are really fun to make! I made these ones for my sister. I really liked how they turned out using ginghams cut on bias for the leaves and the buds. I have a lesson on my new Skillshare class where I talk a bit about bias cut. And if you would like to make these tulips with me visit my class on Skillshare here. I would love to see you there!

My sewing machine makes beautiful things! I made this drawstring bag/basket using the same circle pattern I have in the quilty candy basket. The only difference is that I cut the bag part with a big rectangle instead of little rectangle pieces. The rectangle that I cut for this bag measured 16.75” wide by 12” tall. These measurements include seam allowances. I cut the base (circle) in jean fabric. For the bag I only cut one rectangle, there are no linings, interfacings or fusible fleece. This project is really quick to sew. Finish the top as a drawstring bag. Fill it with candy, any easter gifts. I used this bag as a vase to put some of my fabric tulips as an Easter decor and then as a gift set to give to my sister!

The fabric for this bag was designed by me so I was extra happy when sewing this little bag!

Find the circle pattern for the base of this bag in the button below. It is a free download. Remember that instead of the many rectangle pieces you can cut a solid big rectangle piece to create this bag.

If you are interested in sewing the quilty candy basket, find the steps in my blog here.

Another sewing project I have made around Easter is this beautiful linen table runner. The inspiration came from a wonderful vintage fabric that my husband’s grandmother had and I was lucky to inherit it. This fabric has a cute print of bunnies and flowers in pastel colors. I made this table runner while we were living in Ukraine and I was looking for a table runner to decorate our table. I had nice pieces of linens so I used them for the base of this table runner. I wanted the table runner to be light and soft just like the piece of vintage fabric so I did not use any interfacings. I added a few appliques on the corners. I only used wonder under to fuse them to the linen and did some hand stitching around the shape of the flowers. I also remember cutting these flower appliques on the bias so the edges will not fray. Find a bit about the sewing process in this short video on my Pinterest account here

How about an Easter Fabric Carrot? This sewing project is so quick to make and looks so nice and cute!

I made these bags last year in Lima to give candy to my boys and some of their friends. My mom was spending a few days with us in Peru so she learned how to sew them and thought it was a really neat sewing project!

You can sew this project with scraps of fabrics or fat quarters. This little bag is basically a drawstring bag in the shape of a carrot!

I have a class on Skillshare that teaches how to fold the top of the bag to create a drawstring bag. Find it by clicking the button below:

And these bunnies made with wash clothes or little towels is a really fun craft project for adults and little ones!

You will need a small towel or a piece of square fabric, rubber bands, ribbons, felt for the eyes, nose and whiskers. Strong glue like E6000 and cotton balls.

I have a reel on my Instagram page where you can see how easy it is this project!

Happy Easter! I hope you find this blog inspiring to keep sewing!
